A Note from Becky
This program is the result of my studies and experience as a therapist. It is a combination of both theory and practice of deep tissue massage therapy. With the receipt of your application, I will forward material that I have developed to prepare you for the hands on training you will receive when we are together in class. This material is predominantly an intro to basic anatomy and muscle function, and a concise explanation of the type of therapy we will learn. In class, we will review this information, but the majority of our time will be spent with the dogs and/or horses.
One thing that separates this program from others is that class size is limited to 4 students max. This guarantees individual attention and maximizes your time with the dogs and horses.. All of the dogs used in the program are rescues ranging in size from 10 lbs. to 150+ lbs. There are also variations in age and coat texture, which does affect your massage strokes. There are a variety of horses available for our use, and the option of bringing your horse to class is available. We also discuss basic dog/horse handling, marketing and ethics.
My program has trained a number of vet techs and other professionals in the canine and equine field including veterinarians. I’ve worked with my veterinarian in the development of the course. I’m confident that it is a course that the truly serious student will find fulfilling.
I look forward to sharing my experience and helping others develop as practicing therapists.
